A closer look at the campground

Recreation Thurmond Lake provides some of the best fishing, hunting, and water sports in the southeastern United States. Anglers fish for largemouth bass, bream, crappie, catfish and striped bass. The large lake offers endless boating, water skiing, jet skiing, canoeing and swimming opportunities. Facilities This campground contains 10 primitive campsites. There is a hand pump well for non-potable water and vaulted toilets.  Natural Features LeRoys Ferry Campground is located on J. Strom Thurmond Lake, north of the town of McCormick. It is a primitive campground with 10 campsites and a boat ramp.  The 70,000 acre lake and its 1,000+ miles of shoreline provide excellent boating, water skiing, swimming, fishing, hiking and picnicking opportunities. Nearby Attractions Numerous parks and recreation areas lie around Thurmond Lake, providing additional boating, swimming, hunting, and hiking opportunities. Nearby cities house museums, art galleries, zoos, restaurants, and shopping areas.

Operator directions

From the town of Mccormick, continue on HWY 28 SW for 6.1 mi. Keep left to continue on SC-81 N. Turn right on State Rd S-33-39 until you reach the town of Willington. You wil see the large brown signs from here leading into the campground.
